According to a recent study at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, a variety of different occupations vary on how likely they are to receive theCOVID-19 vaccine. Among them, the construction industry ranks in a high position on the hesitancy scale. Nearly 46.4% of construction employees responded that they would not receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Other trades including installation, maintenance and repair categories said the same thing. The study revealed the concerns held by workers included worries about side effects, lack of trust in the government, belief that the individual does not need it and just personal preference to wait and see if the vaccine is proven safe.
The study also revealed that the hesitancy among the overall population had decreased from 27.5% in January to 22.1% in March. It seems the willingness to receiving the vaccine is rising across the country.
Below is a list of occupations holding the highest hesitancy percentage:
Most construction companies and independent contractors have weighed different options by implementing incentives for workers to get the vaccine or have made it a mandatory prerequisite in order to return to work.
